SmartCAM v2023 Model Viewing and Display
SmartCAM v2023 Model Viewing and Display

A number of enhancements have been made to model viewing and display in the SmartCAM graphics window.

Keyless Dynamic View

The ability to have limited keyless view manipulation is available. With this, when the mouse is in the graphics view, you can use the mouse wheel to zoom the view, without holding down the Shift+Ctrl keys. You can also assign your pop-up menu mouse button (either Middle or Right) to handle one of the three remaining view functions; when the mouse is in the graphics view and you click and drag the button. You can assign the pop-up menu button to be either: Rotate, Pan, or Spin. These options are enabled and configured in Utility - Options - General Options. See the Allow Keyless Dynamic View and Keyless Dynamic View - Pop-up Mouse Button Behavior options.

Zoom About Cursor

The Zoom About Cursor feature has been removed from the Dynamic View window and added as an option on Utility - Options - General Options. When enabled, using zoom (including the keyless zoom described above) will treat your cursor as the location for the zoom. This option allows the display to be zoomed and panned at the same time by moving the cursor toward the desired view center while zooming.

Plane Orientation Marker

The optional Plane Orientation Marker is a special coordinate axis that always shows you the current orientation of your graphics display view. The Marker will always be displayed over the top of your current Graphics View contents; so that you can always find your current orientation.

Using Utility - Options - Presentation Options you can enable or disable the display of the Orientation Marker as well as select which corner of the graphics view to display the Axis. The Plane Orientation Axis is drawn differently from the other Workplane Axis markers, in SmartCAM, to help you differentiate it from the standard origin axis markers.

Section Slice Plane Preview

View - Section - Parameters has been enhanced by adding a preview of the slice plane. When the Parameters window is open, after picking your Work Plane or Offset a preview of where the slice plane will be positioned is shown. As you adjust the parameters, the plane updates to correctly show exactly where the slice will occur.

The four arrow markers, on the corners of the plane preview, show which side of the plane will be sectioned. The side with the arrow markers will be sectioned and hidden.
