SmartCAM users updating from earlier version of SmartCAM applications should compare their current systems to the v2015 system requirements and make any necessary changes prior to installation.

Operating System
SmartCAM is tested and supported on the following 32-bit and/or 64-bit operating systems.

Microsoft Windows Vista Business\Windows 7 Professional & Hardware Requirements
SmartCAM v2015 applications are compatible with the Microsoft Windows Vista Business and Windows 7 Professional operating systems. To get the best performance from SmartCAM, it is highly recommended that you meet or exceed Microsoft's recommended hardware requirements for the given operating system.

Other Operating Systems
SmartCAMcnc tests only on the operating systems shown above. SmartCAMcnc does not support SmartCAM running on other operating systems, and cannot provide assistance to customers using SmartCAM on other operating systems if those operating systems have difficulty running SmartCAM.

Remote Access
Remote access to SmartCAM is not available on multi-user operating systems, such as Windows Server 2003. On single-user operating systems, such as XP or Vista, SmartCAM can be run remotely using Windows Remote Desktop. Windows Terminal Services are not supported; nor is Remote Desktop on multi-user servers as it based on Terminal Services.

SmartCAM: 30MB for each application installation. Note: data files require an additional 0.5-5MB storage space

Video Card
Recommended: 1280x1024 display resolution with True Color, 256MB display RAM; hardware-accelerated OpenGL v1.2 (or higher)
Minimum: 1024x768 display resolution with True Color, 32MB display RAM; hardware-accelerated OpenGL v1.2 (or higher)

Note: Problems have been reported running SmartCAM using some motherboard embedded video chipsets. A separate video adapter is recommended.

Network Card
A Network Interface Card (aka, Ethernet or NIC card) or motherboard embedded with NIC is required. The Ethernet network card is used with SmartCAM software licensing.

Note: Problems have been reported running SmartCAM using some motherboard embedded Ethernet chipsets. Motherboard embedded Ethernet chipsets are not recommended. A separate Ethernet adapter is recommended.
