SmartCAM V17.5: Viewing and Display Enhancements

Several enhancements have been made to SmartCAM view management functionality to help automate, configure, and save desired view information.

Up until now, Name View simply allowed a view orientation and size to be captured and then recalled at a later time. With SmartCAM V17, Name Views have the ability to restore the desired display settings when recalling a view.

Multiple, favorite views used for examining the part or for documentation can now be easily saved with view state information, and with longer, more explicit names. Additionally, SmartCAM now provides the ability to independently control the model transparency by layer.

Name View Changes Overview - New in V17.0

The Name View functionality in SmartCAM V17.0 has been enhanced to support view change previews, ability to create multiple views without having to reopen the Name View dialog, and most significantly the ability to capture selected application state information with the view state information. Additionally, named views can be now be 32 characters long, and 63 separate views may be saved within the model file.

Name View: View Orientation and Size Control - New in V17.0

The Name View dialog box has been redesigned and now includes several new options. Previously, named views saved the combined view orientation and current view size. Version 17 now allows the view orientation and size to be specified independently. Additionally, the view size can be set to Current, Full, or Base, or if desired, None to leave the view size what it was at the time the named view was recalled.

Alternatively, named views can now be saved without saving the view orientation, which adds a variety of new uses when combined with the new display state capture features discussed below.

Name View: Capture Display State - New in V17.0

In addition to the view orientation and size settings, it is now possible to save view state information with the named view. Mask and Visibility settings allow elements currently Masked/Unmasked, or Visible/Hidden to be captured with the named view.

These options can be used to create named views that restore complex view settings by simply selecting the named view, as opposed to manually restoring the various display settings required to recreate the desired view.

Name View & Get View: View Preview - New in V17.0

The Name View and Get View dialogs both provide the ability to preview a view displaying on the panel the options used to create the view, and showing the resulting model view in the graphics window. This feature allows existing named views to be browsed before selecting and closing the dialog box.

Name View: Save Multiple Views - New in V17.0

A new option on the Name View dialog allows multiple views to be saved in a single session.

Independent Layer Transparency - New in V17.0

This feature makes it possible to control and view transparency settings for individual layers, such as for part, stock and/or fixtures, making it much easier to visualize the model and processes.

Each layer may now have a transparency specified in the Add/Edit Layer and Color Change dialogs, for use when displaying surface or facet elements. When a layer transparency has been specified, the global surface transparency specified in Display Modes is ignored for the elements on the respective layer.

Save Graphics View as Bitmap - New in V17.0

The graphics view can now be saved as a bitmap graphic to use in documentation or other uses. Resolution is the same as the SmartCAM graphics view and all colors are represented as they appear in SmartCAM.
