INI File Overview

SmartCAM, like most Microsoft Windows applications, uses initialization (.ini) files to maintain settings for a variety of program defaults. The settings in these files configure SmartCAM to meet your needs and preferences.

SmartCAM applications use two INI files:

The .ini files are located in the Configuration Files subdirectory, specified during the product's installation. The default path for the files can vary, depending upon version of Windows being used and the path can be changed during installation. However the default location for INI files is generally either "\ProgramData\SmartCAM\SmartCAMv####\SCUSER\" or the "\User\<login>\" folder.

You can always find where your SmartCAM INI files reside by starting your SmartCAM NC application or License Manager; then, opening Help - About. The displayed Configuration Location path is where the INI files reside. The Open Folders button, on the About box, will launch a Windows Explorer in the SCUSER folder.

Useful Tips

Before manually customizing settings in an .ini file, make a backup copy of the original file with a different name. This allows you to recover the default .ini files, if necessary. Additionally, do not edit the INI files while your SmartCAM applications are running or your changes may be overwritten when the application closes.
